AC10 being 8 shots per ton could be iffy though, particularly on a medium mech.īut that's if the game were designed to use ammo in the arms as a priority (and then, how would it decide WHICH arm first for examples of mechs with cannons in both arms like the king crab) If your gun arm is getting exposed internals before you can shoot your AC20 5 times, you have bigger problems to worry about with how crazy that mission is going. Those few tons worth the extra movement or 1 extra jump jet totally up to you!

Griff Kint Shadowhawk Wolverine 28 free tons 150 move 5JJ Loved the HBK-4p but need more armor TDR-5ss 7 med and an lrm or srm or JJĬent Enforcer Hunchback 31.5 free tons 120 move 4JJīlackjack and Vindicator 28.5 free tons 120 move 4JJ Ton for ton the CN9-AL HBK-4P and probably the Kintaro are the most effective mediums Due to Medium lasers and Srm'sįor hvys i love the Thunderbolts lrm srm and some med lasers few JJĬan be setup to equal the grasshopper if you want a point blank brawler. The Enforcer or Cent with ac10 and some med lasers if ya looking for a large balistic that you can fire before you are shot to pieces. Tryed the 4g with the ac20 too often outta range poor to hit chance, was fun but not effective.

(kintaro does it just as well just liked the look)Įarly on it was the Vindicator Lrm 10 and 4 medium lasers and JJ very solid. Modded in the Starleague griffon in for 4 srm4 2 med lasers still using that. The Griffin 1n was my favorite some SRM 4's some med lasers jumping in for backstabs and side shots( easy leg shots) Used one as a flanker / scout through untill i started running into all assualt lances. The plain old Catapult can fire forever every single turn while on the moon and still jump jet around on top, then carve the kneecaps off a firestarter with it's lasers. Kind of like how while everyone is busy making LRM boats with more LRMS than an entire stock assault lance combined.

Kintaro is amazing for better alphas, but a Cent is more suitable for 'sustained' SRM brawling because it has like, 5 more use usable tons to play with. Along with that ground speed difference.īut the Cent with it's higher extra spare tonnage is still a great option for brawling in general. The Shadowhawk is still an over all more practical melee skirmish bot because 5 Jump jets is a surprisingly useful boost compared to 4. A lot of people do forget the Cent L has three support points when dimissing it in favor of the A, yes. It has everything: more than decent armor for its tonnage, good weapon distribution, great mobility. Originally posted by Eagle_of_Fire:I can't understand why people diss the Centurion. Imagine "Two firestarters in a trenchcoat" and you've got an idea of how mean a grasshopper is for close combat, An early grasshopper will erase light mechs frmo existence so long as you are actually using those support slots. You have to wait until you get to the top tier heavies like Grasshoppers 95 Melee and SIX support weapon combo (Orion is amazing, but it has zero support slots) before you have better melee build options.įun fact: Support weapons ignore evasion. Thunderbolt heavy mechs only have 80 melee damage before support weapons (and only one variant of it has 3 support mounts). (Huge bullets Hunch is better at knocking things down, Laser hunch is better at kicking them while they are down)Īs mentioned above, the Shadowhawk (D in particular) is your best bet medium to turn into a fast 5 Jumpjet punchbot.įor reference, the Shadowhawk has 85 melee damage before it's two support weapons.

So while that's twice the damage of an AC20, the trick is getting it to land in the same spot. The laser hunchback is surprisingly murderous once you've got semi reliable called shots. Or the "Actually in the lore" build of shoehorning in an AC20. Whats better mechs for the medium class? The worst death trap of the mediums is the Cicadas.Ĭenturion has gained popularity in this particular game for the fact you can turn it into a poor man's LRM boat (more usable tonnage than the Trebushet).
